3/52 – Show us your town

Posted on January 24, 2009. Filed under: Uncategorized |

Sorry I have been neglecting my poor little blog this week. I am just in one of thos blah moods.

The theme for the blog this week was “show us your town”. That is hard for me because I live in the country. So here are some country views for ya!

And this is the view outside my front door.

You can tell whey they are called the Blue Ridge Mountains in this picture.

Little Drummer Boy

Posted on January 20, 2009. Filed under: My kids | Tags: , , , , , |

There is nothing in this world that my son Alex (5 yrs) loves more than drums. I honestly think that if asked Alex would choose his drums over his mom even!

Alex has had MANY sets of toy drums. But toy drums just won’t cut it for my rock star. He bangs on them so hard (just like his hero Travis Barker) that he has broken ever single set. So when my Dad came across these used drums he knew just who to give them to. At first I didn’t see a problem with them, but I never knew just how loud they would be!

Anyway, I knew that I had to get some pictures of Alex with his true love. They might not be technically “perfect”, but they are to me!

Sorry for the picture overload. I couldn’t pick just one!

3 down, 1 to go

Here I am with baby #4.
He is holding the remote for the camera, but it was the only way I could get the little snot to look at the camera. Oh, and I can’t clone it out because I stink at cloning.

How I really identify myself…

Posted on January 14, 2009. Filed under: 52 Week Challenge | Tags: , , , , |

One of the ways that I truely identify myself is I am MOMMY.
Here is baby number 4 – Maddox.

As for the bread yesterday.
Yes, it was a mix for the bread machine. I don’t know what happened. Mike seems to think it is the machine and we need a new one.
But after I did that blog I made a loaf 100% by hand and baked it in my oven. See, I can cook! LOL

While I love my husband dearly…

Posted on January 10, 2009. Filed under: 52 Week Challenge, Things Men Can't Do | Tags: , , , , |

There are just a few things he can’t seem to do. We have been together for almost 15 years (OMG has it really been that long???) and these things are starting to get on my nerves. And not only can he not do these things, but it seems his children (our sons) can’t do them either. It’s making me think that they are things only women can do. I am trying to look at this in a positive light. And how can it be positive? Well I can make these things the subject of my photos for blog entries. LOL

The first entry with this theme is

Men can’t pick up their washcloths out of the bath tub.

And FTR – this is my anything goes post for our 52 week challenge.

One proud Momma

Posted on January 9, 2009. Filed under: My kids | Tags: , , |

I had a totally different picture planed for today, but then my son Austin won his school spelling bee. Needless to say I am SUPER proud of him.
And while these pictures are FAR from perfect they still mean a lot to me. 🙂

He was such a wonderful “photographer’s son”. When he got his award he turned around looked at me and smiled so I could take his picture.

Two Peas lesson 2 part 1 – Shutter Speed & ISO

Posted on January 8, 2009. Filed under: Photography Lessons | Tags: , , |

OK, here is my 2nd Two Peas lesson. This is part 1, Shutter Speed. The camera was set on shutter priority mode.

What did we learn?

1. A higher shutter speed will take the picture faster. The slower the shutter speed the slower the camera takes the picture.

2. A higher shutter speed is good for fast moving objects (like my kids LOL).
